We are currently collaborating with a leading HVAC industry company based in Madrid., which is looking to add a R&D Development Engineer to its team.

About the Role: The R&D Development Engineer is responsible for the design, manufacturing, setup, execution, and reporting of mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer and materials tests to support current and future R&D projects. The role combines hands-on testing, custom tool and jig design, and engineering support to product development teams, ensuring that validation activities are executed autonomously, efficiently, and in line with engineering and quality standards.

Functions:

• Perform engineering activities related to the planning, design, development, and validation of products, subsystems, tools, and testing equipment.

• Support R&D project teams by contributing to design-for-testability, design-for-manufacturing, and design-for-cost activities.

• Collaborate with system engineering, manufacturing, sales, and customer service teams as required.

• Analyze customer and system requirements to support the development of product solutions.

• Design, set up, execute, and document mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer and materials tests in an autonomous manner.

• Define test concepts, feasibility studies, validation methods, and acceptance criteria.

• Assemble and test prototypes, mock-ups, and demonstrators.

• Perform troubleshooting during testing activities and propose design or test method improvements.

• Record test procedures and results, perform routine analyses and calculations, and recommend changes to products, equipment, or test setups.

• Design, fabricate, and assemble custom tools, fixtures, and jigs required for testing and prototyping activities.

• Modify and improve existing test equipment and laboratory setups.

• Ensure test equipment remains operational by coordinating maintenance, upgrades, and repairs.

• Contribute to the development of standardized testing solutions to support repeatability and efficiency.

• Create 3D models, layouts, and detailed drawings for products, test rigs, mock-ups, and jigs.

• Analyze and resolve design details not fully defined in initial requirements.

• Contribute to value and cost optimization strategies.

• Analyze product cost structures and perform benchmarking against competitive solutions.

• Evaluate alternative design and production scenarios and support cost-reduction initiatives.

• Identify internal and external best practices and support CoE and VAVE initiatives.

• Prepare test reports, engineering reports, design guidelines, and technical documentation by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.

• Write, edit, and maintain documentation such as testing reports, internal procedures, user manuals, and installation instructions.

• Ensure documentation complies with applicable regulations, standards, and internal quality requirements.

• Identify competitive products and relevant market solutions.

• Analyze competitive product characteristics with customer and market value.

• Organize and execute comparative analyses and validation

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related technical discipline.

• 1–3 years of experience in industrial or R&D projects, or in a similar technical role, preferably within the HVAC or industrial sectors.

• Knowledge in CAD tools, preferably Siemens NX.

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Proficency in V&V tools (S&V test equipment, DAQ systems) & software, preferably LabVIEW.

• Proven ability to work autonomously in validation and testing activities.

• Professional proficiency in English.

• Availability to travel (limited).
